The idea for this project arose from my PhD, which looked at sexual vulnerability of adults with intellectual disability (ID).
It is well known that other people with ID are a large group of perpetrators of sexual violence against people with ID. In order to reduce risk of sexual violence against this population it is therefore essential to offer appropriate support to known perpetrators with ID to desist from reoffending. This is why I first became interested in evaluating the effectiveness of adapted sex offender treatment programs.
In my position as mentor to Dr Hollomotz I am providing extensive expertise and advice during the project. I have special expertise in realist evaluation and synthesis, as well as a track record of successfully completing grants from funders such as the ESRC, NIHR and MRC.
